These rankings are not your traditional standings based solely on wins and losses. Instead, they are algorithm-based ratings designed to evaluate a team’s overall performance by factoring in the strength of competition.

The USCLUBLAX rankings algorithm operates much like what we all do mentally before a game:

• “We’re playing this team who beat another team by 4 goals, and we beat that team by 3 goals. So, we should expect a close match.”

This approach turns the entire season into a giant game of six degrees of separation. A team’s overall rating provides a clear picture of its relative competitiveness against other teams.

• A 1.0 point difference in ratings represents a theoretical 1-goal advantage for the higher-rated team.
