Mid-Season #1 - Girls Sky Walkers Blue (2023)

The 2023 Sky Walkers Blue girls lacrosse team is currently ranked #1 overall in their class with a record of 8-1. They have a huge summer and are competing at several huge events, such as the Live Love Lax Tournament, Summer Genesis Tournament, Lax for the Cure Tournament, and the Mid-Atlantic Summer Club Championships Tournament. The team is coached by Scott Liotta and Molly Fernandez.

Coach Liotta has been coaching with the Sky Walkers for the past 10 years, while also coaching club soccer and AAU travel basketball. He has two daughters who both played lacrosse in college at Colgate University and Georgetown University.

“The girls are fired up for their last summer together,” Liotta said. “We will continue to push them to improve so they are ready for their senior high school seasons, and are day one contributors at the next level.”

Coach Fernandez has been coaching with the Sky Walkers for over 10 years as well, and she is an alumna of the Sky Walkers program. She was also a former standout at McDonogh High School in Maryland, as well as a four-time player and captain at Penn State University.

“We are also looking forward to the return of two of our top players coming back from injury, Olivia Kuehl and Noel Cumberland,” Liotta said.

The Sky Walkers Blue team from Baltimore, Maryland has a strong core from Baltimore area schools such as Towson High School, Maryvale Prep, Bryn Mawr, NDP, St. Paul's, Roland Park. However, the team has some great geographic diversity with three players from the Washington D.C. area: one from Episcopal High School and two from Bullis School, as well one player from Valor Christian School in Denver, Colorado and one from Phillips Andover Academy in San Diego, California.

According to Liotta, the energy and competitiveness they generate every day in practice from footwork relays, to shooting drills, to 3v3's, makes the time together intense but a lot of fun. They do not like to lose at anything.
