Ava is a skillful defender. She has excellent footwork to stay matched against shifty opponents and to cause turnovers with her quick reaction coming away with the ground ball. Her 1v1 and slide help defense are solid. She stays low and applies pressure out well while holding her space and forcing her opponent out. Her ability to effectively communicate in directing her teammates in switches, picks, and double teams is superb. Ava has good speed clearing the ball up the field but will continue to look for the next pass to move the ball quickly in transition.
