Cole is a big strong defenseman who is good on the ground and with the ball in his stick. He’s smooth in transition for someone his size, and he goes for quality over quantity with his checks. He does sometimes get over extended on checks and forgets to bring his feet with him, but he is athletic enough to recover. I’d like to see more examples of his defensive footwork and if he can be a true shut down defender.
