Devon is a reliable defender. She has a quick reaction time when there is a 50/50 ground ball with her good boxing out position and accelerating through the pickup out of pressure. Her quick first step on 8-meters by getting her stick in her opponent’s shooting lane to deflect is superb. Devon fields cutters well while being aware off-ball for passes inside the 8-meter to get a stick on it. Her great defensive stance in her 1v1 matchups of her approach and maintaining contact while driving with her legs out of the critical scoring area is textbook. The ability to utilize both hands to help clear the ball and stay composed when under pressure contributes to her team’s success. During the clears she finds open space and recognizes where to move the ball to while being an option for her teammates. Devon will continue fine tuning her dodges in the midfield when clearing the ball to evade pressure more easily.
