Sydney is a reliable defender. She does a great job of keeping her stick up in the passing lane to create knockdowns and interceptions to secure the ground ball and effectively clear the ball out. Her excellent field awareness while off-ball by recognizing a 50/50 ball and hustling to secure her team possession is a key contributor to her team’s success. Her effective communication on team defense in a switch to step up towards ball carrier and allow her teammate to pick up the cutter going through the 8-meter. Sydney will continue to work on utilizing her non-dominant hand to be a dual threat and fine tune her defensive footwork to stay matched with shifty players.
