JT is a physical and aggressive defenseman who does a good job of keeping his man away from danger areas. He has good stick skills in transition, and can even take faceoffs when the situation arises. He needs to use his stick more defensively, he relies too much on his physicality and lets his man get into his body too quickly. It's great that he is physical, but he needs to be able to keep his man a sticks length away to have an advantage.
