Gavin is a fundamentally sound defender with good footwork. He throws checks when necessary, but doesn't go crazy and get himself out of position. He is fast in transition, and uses his body well to keep his man from getting to the middle of the field. I'd like to see him add some more takeaway checks to his arsenal as he keeps developing, he already has good footwork so adding some takeaway ability would make him even more dangerous
